Tom Hunt

Executive Director

Tom Hunt is the Executive Director of WCBU/Peoria Public Radio.  Prior to his arrival at Bradley University, he served as Director of Radio at Central Michigan University Public Broadcasting, a network of seven stations serving 52 counties in central and northern Michigan as well as northern Ontario.  He also served as station manager of WVXH in Harrison, Michigan, part of Xavier University’s X-Star Radio network   Prior to that, he worked in administrative, production and on the air at commercial and public stations in the Detroit and Ann Arbor area.  Tom has also served as a communications consultant and was an adjunct faculty member at Bradley University’s Slane College of Communications and Fine Arts and Central Michigan University's Department of Broadcast and Cinematic Arts.  

He holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in communications from Eastern Michigan University and he enjoys sailing, golf, camping, playing the hammered dulcimer and watercolors in his spare time with his wife Kathy.

Gov. Quinn endorses concept of sealing Illinois River from Great Lakes

There’s been some tension among the Great Lakes states over what to do about Asian carp spreading from the Mississippi River system to Lake Michigan. The two bodies of water join at the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal that links to the Des Plaines and into the Illinois River.

At their weekend meeting on Mackinac Island, The Great Lakes Council of Governors agreed to adopt a common strategy to fight the spread of invasive species. Illinois Governor Pat Quinn endorsed the concept of sealing off the Great Lakes from the Mississippi River basin.
