Amount of ER visits by children for medicinal poisoning on the rise
The amount of children going to the emergency room for medicine poisoning rose 30% over the past 10 years. Roughly one child every eight minutes is taken to the emergency room for possible medicinal poisoning.
Safe Kids Peoria Area says it only takes a few seconds for children to get into medicine that could get them very sick. They say parents should make sure all medicine is stored up and away out of sight of children. Commonly overlooked areas children find medicine are purses, counter tops, changing tables.
