17th District Congresswoman Cheri Bustos visited A. Lucas & Sons as part of her “Make it in America” tour.

Bustos says the point of her tour is to hear from workers at successful manufacturing companies like A. Lucas & Sons. She says she it’s good to see the day-to-day workings of a role model company. A. Lucas & Sons received a $350,000 American Recovery and Reinvestment grant for technological upgrades. Margaret Hanley is the third generation President and CEO of the family owned A. Lucas & Sons steel fabrication company. She says her company is honored to share its best practices with the congresswoman.

“The American people have done their part with the grant," Hanley said. "It’s my job now to make sure that I continue to employ more people. And that’s the goal - to get people off of unemployment, to show them that there is an immense source of pride because we have totally changed the landscape around Peoria.”

A. Lucas & Sons is the country’s oldest steel fabrication company located in downtown Peoria.
