Daley wants to get rid of Regional Transportation Authority

Bill Daley says he wants to eliminate the agency that oversees all other transit agencies around Chicago.

The former U.S. Commerce Secretary is running for Illinois governor against incumbent Democrat Pat Quinn. Daley says the Regional Transportation Authority is quote - “a bureaucratic Frankenstein” - and does not improve efficiency.

"What it does do, is hand out millions of dollars in contracts to politically connected people and serve as an employment agency for politicians. None of that has anything to do with getting people to and from their job."

Daley also says he wants the entire board of directors at Metra to be fired. That follows allegations from Metra’s former CEO that he was forced out after not complying with political patronage personnel requests.
