Department of Insurance officials in Washington

Washington residents impacted by Sunday’s tornado can get assistance with how to process insurance claims.

The Illinois Department of Insurance is offering one-on-one counseling in the Tazewell County community until further notice. State insurance officials will provide information to tornado victims on how to document storm damage. Counselors will advise on whether residents should make temporary repairs, what their homeowner policies cover and what to expect during the claims process.

The counseling begins Tuesday morning at 10 at the Wal-Mart Supercenter parking lot. It will continue daily from 9 until 4. If possible, affected residents should bring insurance policy information and all documentation they have received from company adjusters or public adjusters.
