Discussion on decline of butterflies this year

Researchers from the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission say there is lingering evidence of the effect of last year’s drought. Volunteers conducted an informal butterfly count in early July. Illinois Public Radio’s Brian O’Keefe spoke with The Nature Preserves Commission’s Angella Moorehouse about the butterfly census:

It’s still possible for some butterfly species to recover this summer. Some varieties breed several times each the summer months, but others only produce one generation a year.
