East Peoria votes to support keeping same tax rate
The East Peoria City Council approved an annual tax levy ordinance that aims to maintain the same rate as last year.
That means the owner of a $150,000 home would see their annual city property tax bill decrease by more than three-dollars. The measure passed 3 to 2. Those in favor of maintaining the rate say that the city is relying more on sales tax revenue from new businesses. Those against the measure say that the city can’t guarantee what a final tax rate will be.
