Former Gov. Quinn Makes Public Appearance In Champaign

Oct 1, 2015

Former Governor Pat Quinn says he will NOT be running for office next year, despite a recent string of public appearances.

The Democrat, who was ousted by Republican Bruce Rauner in November, says he's spending time volunteering with veterans and consumer advocacy groups.

Weighing in on the state's budget impasse, Quinn says his successor ought to focus on governing instead of politics. Quinn described the state's three months without a budget as "disappointing", and says he told voters "the truth" about needing more revenue.Quinn made his comments at a rare public appearance in Champaign Thursday, before a luncheon celebrating the opening of a new Veterans Center on the University of Illinois' Urbana campus.
