Frerichs makes campaign stop in Macomb

The Democratic candidate for Illinois Treasurer feels everything should be on the table if the state considers changes to its revenue structure. IPR’s Rich Egger reports on what the candidate had to say during a stop in Macomb.

State Senator Mike Frerichs believes this fall’s elections will be a referendum on the revenue structure. Among other things, he would favor a change from the state’s flat income tax rate.

"I have been a sponsor in the past of the 'fair tax' to make sure that we can have a tax structure at graduated rates."

Frerichs previously served as the Champaign County Auditor. He’s running unopposed in next week’s Democratic primary for State Treasurer. In November, he’ll face either Tim Cross or Bob Grogan, both of whom are seeking the Republican nomination.

Frerichs says he’s willing to debate the GOP nominee.
