Gov. Quinn announces more than $1 million approved to help tornado victims
Tornado victims throughout Illinois are being approved for more than one-million dollars in federal aid. Governor Pat Quinn says the money is helping those impacted by the tornadoes that struck the state last month. The federal grants are paying for disaster-related expense like temporary home rental, home repairs, and replacement of damaged personal property.
Those living in the 15 counties with federal disaster declarations including Tazewell and Woodford can continue to register for assistance. A Disaster Recovery Center stationed at the FOLEPI building in East Peoria is helping people apply for disaster aid. Information on other programs victims may qualify for is also available. The DRC is open everyday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Those impacted by the storms can also apply for FEMA assistance by calling 1-800-621-3362 or online at www.disasterassistance.gov. The deadline to register for aid is January 27th.
