Governor Pat Quinn is requesting federal aid for people and businesses that were impacted by the November 17th storms that rolled through the state. Quinn asked President Obama to declare 15 Illinois counties major disaster areas including Tazewell and Woodford.
The request comes after teams from the state and federal Emergency Management Agencies, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and local officials found more than 24-hundred homes were damaged throughout Illinois. Nearly 800 of those were destroyed. Those in the affected areas would be eligible to apply for grants and low-interest SBA loans if FEMA approves the disaster declaration.
