Healthy lead for Rauner in governor’s race

The Illinois primary is a week away--and businessman Bruce Rauner has a healthy lead in the Republican race for governor.  The billionaire venture capitalist has made job creation a capstone of his campaign, and says he understands how hard it is for families to get ahead in Illinois.

My grandparents lived in a double wide trailer. I understand how hard it is to get ahead for a family in Illinois. We have a high cost of living, we have brutally high taxes, we have brutally high unemployment. That’s the reason I’m running for governor.

Rauner’s committed more than $6 million of his own money to the campaign.
