Hillary Clinton visits Chicago

Jun 14, 2013

Hillary Clinton was in Chicago Thursday making one of her first big speeches since stepping down as Secretary of State. There’s already speculation about her possible presidential bid in 2016. IPR'S Alex Keefe reports.

Clinton DID give the obligatory nod to the hometown sports team....

"I can remember listening to Blackhawk games on the radio..."

...and there was the lofty rhetoric.

"Are we really gonna be able to maintain the American Dream?"

But the former First Lady and U.S. Senator wasn’t exactly making a campaign speech. She outlined her priorities working with the Clinton Global Initiative such as public-private infrastructure projects.

"This can’t just be a conversation about Washington. We all need to do our part."

Clinton says she’ll also focus on getting women around the world  more involved in business - and diplomacy.

" ...and, when women participate in politics, the effects ripple out across society." (Cheers, fade under)...

Clinton says she’ll now be working full time with the global initiative - but didn’t talk about her political future.
