Most residents living in Peoria and West Peoria can now use water regularly. Illinois American Water lifted the boil order for those who were impacted by Monday’s water main break at Jefferson and Abington streets. That means it’s no longer necessary for customers to boil their water before drinking or cooking.
Crews continue to work on repairing the 30-inch transmission main line. About 20 customers surrounding the break are still without water. They will be under a boil order once the main is fixed.
Drivers are asked to use caution, obey traffic signs and follow detour routes through the impacted area.
