Il lawmakers could revive home care program for the elderly
He says without more money, home care workers could be out of jobs within a week, leaving senior citizens without assistance and potentially forcing them into nursing homes.
"I know across the state ... there are a lot of folks who are counting on us, who are worried about how they're going to be able to stay in their homes."
The House approved a plan authorizing a total of 324-million dollars in new spending ... part of which will be used to rescue the home care program. Legislators say it's a good use of state money because the federal government will match Illinois' spending.
