RENEE MONTAGNE, HOST:

And our last word in business today is: Underdog.

The world may be focused on the events in Sochi, but more than 3,000 international competitors have converged on New York City for another prestigious contest - 138th annual Westminster Dog Show.

STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:

Now the American Kennel Club has opened the doggie door for three new breeds to compete. Welcome - the Chinook, an American-bred sled dog who's also popular with families.

In 2009 the Chinook was named the state dog of New Hampshire.

MONTAGNE: And two other newcomers will finally get their paws in the door, the Rat Terrier and the Portuguese Podengo Pequeno.

And that's the business news from MORNING EDITION on NPR News. I'm Renee Montagne.

INSKEEP: And I'm Steve Inskeep.
