Nick Offerman to Speak at U of I Commencement

Actor, comedian and woodworker Nick Offerman received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign in 1993. That same year, Offerman and several fellow students co-founded the Defiant Theatre, a Chicago-based theatre company.

Actor and University of Illinois alumnus Nick Offerman will deliver this year’s commencement address to graduates on the Urbana campus this Saturday. Offerman is best known for his role as Ron Swanson in the NBC comedy series “Parks and Recreation.”  Illinois Public Radio’s Brian Moline spoke with Offerman about his message to U of I graduates, and his newest television show for NBC, “The Handmade Project.”

Actor and U of I alum Nick Offerman will deliver the commencement address to 2017 graduates on the Urbana-Champaign campus Saturday at Memorial Stadium.  The ceremony starts at 9:30 A.M.
