Part of Business 24 in Washington closing for pavement repair

May 2, 2014

Part of a major road in Washington is closing for three weeks to repair severe potholes and pavement damage.  Business Route 24 on both sides of the viaduct just south of Wood Street is closing starting Monday. Jennifer Rudzinski is IDOT’s operations engineer for District 4. She says the pavement repairs should last for decades once complete:

“A safer more efficient way to get through from the Washington Square back towards the rest of Washington. That we’ve got a smooth way that we won’t have to respond to deteriorated pavement or constantly monitor it to make sure it’s safe for the traveling public.

Any local delivery trucks passing through Washington should use a posted detour sign during construction. That will run from North Cummings Lane to Cruger Road and onto Main Street.  Through-traffic should use U-S 24 and passenger vehicles have no local route restrictions.
