The Peoria Park District purchased additional land to provide a more permanent place for its youth recreational soccer leagues. The Board of Trustees voted to acquire 49-acres from FC Peoria located at the Green Chevrolet Soccer Complex in Mossville.

The agreement gives the Park District access of up to 18 soccer fields and a parking lot. FC Peoria will maintain possession of additional acreage, an indoor facility, and a second parking lot. Soccer league participants will also have access to enhanced skills clinics and coaches’ training.

The Park District previously used Detweiller and Bielfeldt Parks for games, but there were scheduling conflicts with other sports related events.

It cost 490-thousand dollars for the land. A state grant picked up half the price. The Park District paid for the rest.
