Peoria Police are looking for a suspect in a murder of a 25-year-old South Side resident earlier this month.  They say 22-year-old Darren D. Brown is wanted for first degree murder in the shooting death of Nikko Smith.  He's 165 lbs, six-foot with black hair and brown eyes. Earlier in the week police said that the latest string of homicides did not appear to be gang-related.

But Chief Jerry Mitchell says nothing is being ruled out:

“That’s part of the investigation, it to determine what the role is in these homicides, whether it’s drug-related, or money-related or still group or gang-related, so we’re going to look at all of that during the investigation.”

Police say they identified Brown as a suspect based on witness information and evidence at the scene.  They say staff will be answering questions from neighbors about the recent homicides Friday at 5pm at all three resident officer homes.
