Peoria Police says two robberies linked

The Peoria Police Department is investigating two high-end home invasions with a team of detectives assigned exclusively to the break-ins.

Peoria Police Chief Steve Settingsgaard says the Weaver Ridge home invasion three weeks ago and the one last night/Tuesday in Chadwick Estates appear to be the work of the same trio. Robbers used rear entrances to both homes in the middle of the night, woke the homeowners at gun point and tied them up while robbing their home and also taking two cars. The children in the home robbed last night reportedly slept through the invasion, and were not bound.

The chief is asking anyone with any information about the crimes to contact the department or Crime Stoppers. “Very few people are good at keeping secrets and it’s very likely one or more of our suspects have shared what’s going on with others. In turn those folks generally aren’t very good at keeping secrets.," Settingsgaard says. "I’m confident there are people out there who know who’s doing this and so far have chosen not to share it.”

Settingsgaard says Crimestoppers is completely anonymous.

The Chief says the department is also reviewing other recent home invasions to see if any of them match the most recent ones. He says they are also in communication with federal law enforcement authorities who are offering assistance.
