Residents march in downtown Peoria to tout city’s traits

More than 100 people marched in downtown Peoria as part of a bid to win an All-America City Award. The Young Professionals Organization of Greater Peoria announced last month the city is one of 20 finalists for the designation. The march was recorded as part of a video highlighting Peoria’s assets and people. Tim Cundiff is chair of the Peoria-area Young Professionals group. He says the City last won the All-America award in 1989:

“We’ve got a great group of energetic young people with our Young Professional organization, and we said 24 years has been way too long, let’s do everything we possibly can to show the amazing things that are going on in our city, to show those to the world and country and bring that title back to town.”

Cundiff says the video will be used to show the National Civic League how much public support the city has.  He says winning the award can help boost tourism and market the area.
