Police have arrested three people in the shooting death of 63-year-old Garrison Collins. He was found by a family shot in his 1400 block South Stanley home just before 1:00 a.m. Tuesday.
Gemia Shird, 21, Michael Howard, 27 and Samantha Gordon, 20 are each charged with first degree murder and armed robbery.
Peoria Police Captain Loren Marion told the press, “we believe the motive for this incident is robbery. We do not believe this was a random incident and we believe the victim knows at least one of the individuals involved.”
Marion says there was no sign of forced entry into Collins’s home. He says evidence has been secured from the 2300 block West Krouse residence of Michael Howard and Samantha Gordon. Police are not specifying further for the sake of the investigation.
The Peoria County Coroner says the gunshot wound to Collins’s neck likely took his life immediately.
