Schnuck’s chain: no sickness reports from recalled chicken salad

May 5, 2014

The Schnuck’s grocery chain says there are no reports of anyone getting sick from recalled chicken salad that had been sold at its deli counters.

Spokesman Paul Simon says the Missouri-based chain recalled 130 pounds of Curry White Meat Chicken Salad with walnuts due to possible Listeria contamination.

“What it looks like, and the direction that it’s pointing, is that we believe it’s the walnuts that were provided to us by another outside supplier, and we are now looking into that, I believe that has been turned over to the FDA.”

The product was shipped to 100 locations in five states including Illinois and Indiana, and may have been purchased between April 24th and May 2nd. Schnuck’s deli products fall under the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which turned over the chicken salad to the FDA.

Symptoms of Listeriosis include fever, muscle aches, confusion, and loss of balance.
