Bankers will be on hand to provide on-site loan modifications, and homeowners can apply for up to 35-thousand dollars in assistance to reinstate their mortgages or help pay their monthly payments. Mary Kenney is the Executive Director of the state agency.
"There has been a recent decline in foreclosures, not only in Peoria but across the state. But recent records show that are still over 22-hundred families in the Peoria-metro area that are seriously delinquent on their mortgages."
Kenney says local lenders will also be on hand to pre-qualify homebuyers and help them apply for down payment assistance and federal tax credits. Homebuyers can also apply to receive 10-thousand dollars in down payment assistance if they purchase a vacant home in the city of Peoria. The housing event is at the Peoria Civic Center on Saturday, May 18th from 9 to 2. Potential homebuyers must register for the event at www.ihda.org.
