Illinois State Police says the area’s interstates are passable, but motorists are still encouraged to drive safely. The road conditions on Interstates 74, one-55, and 39 are covered in a mixture of snow and slush according to law enforcement.

State troopers in the district covering Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Marshall, and Stark Counties have responded to more than 30 motorist assists and 10 vehicle crashes during the winter storm that hit the area.

State police say if motorists must travel, they should allow for plenty of time, drive slow, have a charged cell phone and pack an emergency kit.

Drivers are also being reminded to move over for emergency vehicles responding to accidents as well as for maintenance vehicles and tow trucks. Failure to do so could result in fines, driver’s license suspension, and possible jail time.
