Democratic Gubernatorial Candidate Daniel Biss started a 10-Day Campaign Tour in Peoria Friday. Biss is a state Senator who represents the 9th District. He’s calling the tour The Road Forward.
Biss says he recognizes he’s in a crowded field for the Democratic nomination. “I don’t think most people in the state of Illinois are looking for another successful business person without experience in government who says, ‘Trust me! I’ll be great!’
Biss says he thinks, "it’s time for someone who knows how to make things work in government and I think we have to have a system where we don’t just hold an auction and hand it over to the highest bidder. We have to have an election that is about ideas and that’s what this campaign is here to do.”
Biss hosted an open Town Hall meeting Friday evening at the ICC Peoria Campus. Earlier Friday he met with a home healthcare worker and client to talk about ways to make that system of care better. It's a subject Senator Biss has been dedicated to during his time in the Illinois Senate.
There are eight other men in the field for the Democratic Gubernatorial nomination they include Bob Daiber, Tio Hardiman, Chris Kennedy, Amaya Pawar and J.B. Pritzker.
The primary election is March 20, 2018.
