Warehouse District improvements move ahead

Progress on Peoria’s Warehouse District Road Improvements is about a quarter complete. Peoria Public Radio’s Tanya Koonce reports the city is planning to hold monthly informational meetings in the Warehouse District.

City Engineer Scott Reeise says it will be helpful as various phases of the Washington Street Improvements and the Tiger II project begin to move more rapidly. For example, Reeise says by the end of the year they plan to finish the riverside part of Adams Street and convert it to two-way between Walnut and Persimmon. He says its a cost-effective way to look at the possibility of converting the larger Corridor:

“We are looking into the cost of converting Adams and Jefferson to two-way all the way from Camblin down to Western. It was an issue the council asked us to look into a couple of months ago and we’ve been working on a traffic demand model in that stretch,” Reeise says.

Washington Street improvements from Persimmon to State Street are scheduled to be complete next July. The entire 25 Million dollars of Warehouse District road improvements are to be complete Summer 2015.
