Emerald ash borer detected in Peoria, Tazewell counties

The state Department of Agriculture has confirmed emerald ash borer in Peoria and Tazewell Counties. The beetle is a destructive pest that kills millions of ash trees in North America.  State officials say the finds are significant because they’re showing up for the first time outside the boundaries of a state quarantine zone. Residents should follow quarantine guidelines by no transporting firewood products outside the counties. The state also encourages homeowners to treat or remove any trees they see with the emerald ash borer.

Court: EPA must better regulate ash coal plant pollution
