IL Supreme Court to Comcast: give up online identity

The Illinois Supreme Court says Comcast must give up the identity of an anonymous online commenter.  The individual in question is being sued for defamation, for a web post comparing a Stephenson County politician to Penn State pedophile Jerry Sandusky.  The politician’s lawyer, Andrew Smith, says the same rules apply whether comments are made on the radio, in a newspaper or online.

Internet ready learning zones launched

Some local community organizations, Peoria Public Library and Peoria Public Schools are working to bridge the digital divide by offering free WiFi service. Comcast is supplying the service for free or at a reduced cost to various organizations like the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Peoria, the Dream and East Bluff Community Centers, St. Paul's Baptist Church as well as some Peoria Public Schools.

Video gaming regulations for East Peoria

  The City of East Peoria is requiring all video gaming machine holders to register. Peoria Public Radio’s Tanya Koonce reports:The East Peoria City Council unanimously approved the measure that requires registration and a $25 per machine fee. Peoria Mayor Dave Mingus says he supports the measure, but the city will need to revisit how it regulates video gaming. “I question the best interest of it being in the city, particularly because we have the Par-a-dice [Casino] that does a good job of monitoring, that does a good job of community support,” Mingus says.
