ICC gets $2.6 million towards Sustainability Center project

The state is giving Illinois Central College more than two-and-a-half-million-dollars to build a new Sustainability Center at its East Peoria campus. The funding is part of the state’s ‘Illinois Jobs Now’ program. The new 24,000 square-foot facility will include space for renewable energy, architecture and H-VAC programs. Illinois Central College President John Erwin says area residents can also benefit from the new facility:

Illinois Ethanol Plant Celebrates Anniversary

Millions of bushels of corn from northwestern Illinois have been turned into billions of dollars, thanks to an ethanol plant near Annawan in Henry County. Patriot Renewable Fuels will celebrate its 5 year anniversary with an open house and tours Thursday and Friday. IPR's Herb Trix reports.

Region could form natural-gas buying group

The same consultant that helped establish a regional power-purchasing program for electricity is gauging interest in a similar program for natural gas.  Peoria Public Radio’s Alex Rusciano reports:
