Illinois home sales up

Sales of existing homes in Illinois were up 14-point-9 percent in June from previous year levels, and median home prices increased 9-point-7 percent according to the Illinois Association of Realtors. Geoffrey Hewings with the University of Illinois’ Regional Economics Applications Laboratory says he’s not ready to call the increases a trend, but he says it’s certainly an improvement from the lower home sales and prices that came with the collapse of the housing bubble.

Peoria area home sales on the decline


Peoria-area home sales are on the decline in the first quarter of the year. But Peoria Public Radio’s Sean Flavin reports area realtors are expecting numbers to improve. 

The Peoria Area Association of Realtors says first quarter home sales are down two percent this year compared to last. Low inventory numbers are considered the culprit. The number of homes for sale dipped twenty-five percent between the first quarter of 20-12 and this year. John Purple is the president of the Peoria Area Association of Realtors. He says he expects those numbers to rise soon.
