Peoria honors coach Wayne McClain

The City of Peoria formerly honored a well-known former Manual High School basketball coach who died last year.  Coach Wayne McClain led Peoria Manual to three consecutive state championships from 1995 to 97.  City Councilwoman Denise Moore says the intersection of Lincoln and Griswold Streets near Manual is now Coach Wayne McClain Court:

Washington School District 51 recognized city officials for their recovery efforts following the November 17th tornado. The district recognized Washington’s mayor, city administrator, police and fire chief for helping re-open the schools following the devastating storms.  District Superintendent Chad Allaman says the officials helped quickly re-open the primary and middle schools:

The City of East Peoria honored a resident who named the new downtown Levee District.  The city recognized Don Taylor for winning the naming contest.  East Peoria Mayor Dave Mingus says the event also recognizes the resident buy-in for the new downtown:

Peoria to name intersection after Ray LaHood

The City of Peoria is naming the Main and Monroe Street intersection after one of its most notable residents. The naming will honor former U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood next week.
