Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum

The Illinois House has approved a plan to make the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum its own agency but scuttles the governor's proposed privatization of business development in the state. 

Portraits of every president from George Washington to Barack Obama will go on display later this month at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield.

While other agencies are bracing for budget cuts, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum could get everything it's asking for in next year's budget.

The National Park Service plans to mark the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's funeral procession from Washington, D.C., to Springfield.  Commemorations starting this month will take place in cities along the looping route Lincoln's funeral train took to carry his body back to his home state, Illinois. The cities include Baltimore, New York, Philadelphia, Cleveland and Chicago.   Programs along that route will feature well-known Lincoln actor Fritz Klein.

A new exhibit at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield ties in with the 150th anniversary of Lincoln’s death. 

February will be the final month for school groups to visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield free of charge. The museum began offering free entry to student in January. 

Gov.-elect Bruce Rauner's inaugural festivities will include a dinner at the Illinois Capitol, a concert and a free event at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.

The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield will host new exhibits, features, and events this coming year. The facility's 10th anniversary will coincide with the 150th observance of Lincoln's assassination. 

A new exhibit at the Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield showcases some of the most important documents related to Abraham Lincoln. A handwritten copy of the Gettysburg Address and a signed copy of the Emancipation Proclamation are on display as part of what's titled "Undying Words." 

Illinois lawmakers are weighing the future of Springfield’s Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. At issue is whether the museum should become its own state agency instead of remaining under the control of the Historic Preservation Agency.

A museum devoted to the president who held the United States together could itself secede, from the state agency its now overseen by. 

A "Spooktacular Evening with Abe"

 Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum is hosting the 3rd annual "Spooktacular Evening with Abe" this month. It will take place on October 18th from 6 to 8:30 p.m. 

An Illinois House panel has approved a proposal to make the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum an independent state agency. House Speaker Michael Madigan is sponsoring the measure, and says he's "spent a little time studying the issue."

Stanley Cup makes trip to Springfield

The Stanley Cup has made a trip to Illinois' capital city. It made an appearance Monday at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield just weeks after the Blackhawks won it for the second time in four seasons.
