Details on maneuver used to block mandatory minimums bill

The city of Chicago had a setback in Springfield Thursday. Mayor Rahm Emanuel has been pushing to increase prison sentences for people convicted of gun crimes. But on the last day of the Illinois legislature's fall veto session, a group of African-American legislators used a parliamentary maneuver to block him.

Reverand Jesse Jackson speaks about son

The Reverend Jesse Jackson says he has not visited since his son reported to federal prison late last month. Former Congressman Jesse Jackson Junior is serving two-and-a-half years in North Carolina. He was convicted of corruption for spending 750-thousand dollars of his campaign fund on personal spoils.

Quinn signs bill to create minority-business taskforce

Governor Pat Quinn signed a bill that creates a task force charged with helping minority-owned businesses.  Quinn signed the legislation after addressing the Illinois Black Chamber of Commerce during its annual meeting in East Peoria.  Quinn says the newly-created Workforce Development Task Force will make recommendations to the General Assembly this winter:
