Bradley University partners for ‘Law Scholar’ program

Bradley University is partnering with Indiana University for its pre-law students. The ‘Bradley Law Scholar’ program will nominate two pre-law students each year for acceptance at Indiana University’s Robert McKinney School of Law.

Traffic changes as Bradley University students move in

Saturday is move-in day for all Bradley students. That means drivers can expect traffic delays on University Avenue between I-74 and campus. Several roads near Bradley are closing tomorrow for the student move-in. Motorist can expect Elmwood at Main Street to be closed as well as Saint James at University Street. Bradley Avenue will be closed at the intersections of Duryea and Institute. The heaviest traffic is expected to last from 9 to three.  There will also be no parking on Bradley Avenue from University to Glenwood through Saturday evening.

Bradley University projects 940 freshman students, program adjustments

Bradley University is projecting a fall freshman class of 940 students.  That’s 140 fewer students compared to last year’s freshman class. Bradley University president Joanne Glasser shared the numbers at the State of the University address. Bradley is looking to make about seven-point-eight-million dollars in cuts to hit a balanced budget for the academic year.

Bradley ranks high in new Princeton Review

The Princeton Review is again recognizing Bradley University as one of the best in the nation. The ranking comes in the 2015 edition of “The Best 379 Colleges” guide. That makes Bradley again considered in the top 15 percent of all four-year colleges. Bradley’s undergraduate entrepreneurship program is also ranked among the top 25 nationwide. The school is also considered in the top ranks for academic quality and value.

Bradley University grad programs double in global interest

Bradley University's graduate school programs  are seeing a surge of interest from international students. Nearly 800 students applied to graduate programs starting this fall. That's double the applications from a year ago. Doctor Jeff Bakken is dean of Bradley's Graduate School. Bradley University plans $7 million in cuts

Bradley University is looking to make $7 million in cuts this summer to hit a balanced budget next academic year. Bradley President Joanne Glasser says this fall’s freshman class is projected at 970 students. That’s 110 fewer students compared to last year’s freshman class, although the numbers could change before school starts in the fall.

Bradley students’ Rules of War campaign in national competition

Bradley University students are getting recognition for a campaign that highlights global human conflict.  The students partnered with the Central Illinois Red Cross as part of the International Humanitarian Law campaign. The campaign had students from across the country create projects to showcase how people are treated during times of conflict.  Bradley University’s campaign created simulations about child soldiers and being judged by a war tribunal to highlight the effects of conflict.  The campaign will compete nationally at the National IHL Youth leadership Summit next month.

EU diplomats talk free trade at Bradley University

Bradley University hosted a panel with foreign diplomats to talk about negotiations for the latest possible free trade agreement.  The U.S. and European Union are in talks over the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership. Angela Weck directs the Peoria Area World Affairs Council that hosted the event.  She says an eventual agreement will impact Central Illinois:

Bradley University is ranked as the 18th best animation school in the Midwest. This year's Animation School Rankings also list Bradley as the 83rd best animation school in the country.

Civil Rights leader urges courage at Bradley University event

The only living member of the “Big Six” leaders of the Civil Rights Movement spoke at Bradley University today. Congressman John Lewis was also a close friend of Martin Luther King Junior.  He urged the hundreds in attendance to have courage in standing up against injustice.  But Lewis also praised Central Illinois for a strong history of leadership:
