An ex-vice president at Chicago's former red light camera vendor says he gave more than $14,000 in gifts to a then-Chicago official on trial for allegedly taking bribes to steer red-light camera contracts.

The attorney for a former Chicago official on trial for allegedly taking bribes to bring red light cameras to the city says his client is innocent because he did not have the power to do so.

A trial is set to begin for a former Chicago transportation official accused of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and gifts to steer more than $100-million in red-light camera contracts to a Phoenix-based company.  

A federal judge has sentenced a Chicago alderman's former chief of staff to 15 months in prison for accepting a $7,500 bribe concealed in a Christmas card.
