District 150 hires legal officer, talks budget

The District 150 School Board voted to hire an in-house legal officer.  Peoria Public Radio’s Alex Rusciano reports the move comes as the Board heard from parents concerned about the legal money spent on a testing investigation at Charter Oak.

District 150 approves fives new principals, including Charter Oak

The District 150 School Board approved a new principal for Charter Oak Primary School.   Betty Zilkowski is replacing John Wetterauer, who was removed from the post following a state testing investigation. She is currently the assistant principal at Sterling Middle School. The Board also approved new principals for Lindbergh, Northmoore Primary, Sterling and Woodrow Wilson schools.  The current principals at those schools are retiring in the coming months.

District 150 preparing report on potential cheating at Charter Oak

The Illinois State Board of Education is waiting on District 150 to send a formal report about potential cheating at Charter Oak Primary School. The District says it discovered quote, ‘potential ‘irregularities’ with the way the Illinois Standard Achievement Test, or I-SAT, exams were given to the 3rd and 4th grade special-education students at the School.
