Voters will finally have their say in Illinois' primary election Tuesday. It’s been a record-breaking year in terms of political fundraising. That’s largely because of two men.

Gov. Bruce Rauner spent more than $65 million dollars when he was elected four years ago. As of last week, J.B. Pritzker topped that, nearing the $70 million dollar mark, and that’s just for the primary.

A key difference? Rauner mixes his own money with other donations whereas Pritzker has just one funder, himself.

Polls are open tomorrow from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

In the final days of the Democratic primary election for Illinois governor - Daniel Biss is once again calling on his main rivals to release their full tax returns.

State Senator Biss scolded JB Pritzker and Chris Kennedy for releasing only a portion of their tax returns.

That comes after the Chicago Tribune this week shed light on Pritzker’s relationship to offshore trusts and companies.

BISS: When they were claiming to release their tax returns in November, they just released a tiny amount of information and I thought, ‘My god, what are they hiding?’

The crowd at the U of I’s Gregory Hall auditorium erupted into cheers and applause. Whichever candidates those in attendance supported, they all hoped their choice would defeat Governor Rauner next November.

The Democratic candidates for Illinois governor are increasingly getting asked what they think of their own party’s leader, House Speaker Michael Madigan.

Newly-released campaign finance reports show it’ll take a lot of money to be the next governor of Illinois.
