U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin has pledged federal support for fixing problematic water supplies at the Illinois Veterans' Home in Quincy where Legionnaires' disease has claimed 13 lives since 2015.

Gov. Bruce Rauner's administration says closing the Kewanee youth correctional facility would save up to $14-million next year for improved programming for young offenders.

Hazardous weather moving out of the area

Some light snow or flurries will be possible today and tonight, but little additional accumulation is expected.

IL Comptroller pledges quicker nonprofit payments

  Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka is creating an advisory council to help non-profit groups receive state payments in a more timely fashion. Topinka visited the Center for Prevention of Abuse in Peoria yesterday to talk with non-profit human service groups about the state’s financial condition. She says her office is now paying bills from June 21st, a shorter delay than usual. But Topinka says its still within the first month of the state’s new fiscal year. She says by fall and into the holiday season, the payment delay gap could get larger:
