A suburban gun range in Illinois that's offering free concealed carry classes for teachers says training slots are filling up quickly.

Attorneys for a Mexican immigrant suing a sheriff's office over alleged violations of Illinois' new immigration law are withdrawing a county lawsuit and pursing it in federal court. 

Illinois could have its first-ever micro-hospital if plans to build one in Crystal Lake are approved, according to state officials.

The corner of Three Oaks Road and Route 31 would be the location for the proposed 13-bed facility. A hearing by the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board is tentatively scheduled in June.

A suburban Chicago school district will tear down sports stadium bleachers after the state Supreme Court ruled the district wrongfully ignored local building codes in constructing the structure in 2013. A statement by Crystal Lake Community High School District 155 said officials were disappointed with Thursday's ruling and will  "move forward in a cooperative and respectful manner" with the city and neighbors. The district built the 50-foot-tall, $1.2 million stands without the city's permission and did not abide by local regulations on height and setback.

Authorities in central Illinois say a body found in a frozen lake in an Urbana park is that of a missing Chicago man.

Catholic Diocese of Rockford asking churches to stick with Boy Scouts

The Catholic Diocese of Rockford is asking churches to continue to keep charters with the Boy Scouts of America. Bishop David Malloy is responding to the new policy that says scouts cannot be denied membership based on sexual orientation. The Chicago Tribune reported a church in Crystal Lake severed ties with a Boy Scout group over the change.
