Peoria sees unemployment drop, despite job loss

The unemployment rate fell in every metro area in the state for the 14th month in a row. The Illinois Department of Employment Security is reporting an unemployment rate of 5.3-percent in April for the Peoria area. That’s a 1.3-percent decline from the same time last year. But the Peoria lost 3,100 jobs year-over-year.

Rauner could follow income tax drop schedule

Illinois Governor-elect Bruce Rauner seems to be serious about letting the state’s income tax drop next year.  

Illinois' unemployment rate dropped last month -- to the lowest level in more than five years. But the state still has one of the worst rates in the country.
