University of Illinois President Timothy Killeen says he will recommend that the school freeze its base tuition for incoming, in-state freshmen for a fourth consecutive year.

Northern Illinois University trustees have again voted to freeze tuition and lower fees for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year.

Illinois Democrats and Governor Bruce Rauner remain at a standstill over a new state budget. On Monday, the Governor tweaked a property tax freeze proposal to include increased state funding for struggling schools. Jenna Dooley has more on how the plan could affect homeowners:

The Peoria Public Works Department says the freeze-thaw cycle could damage underground sewer and water pipes. Director Mike Rogers says the ground freeze this season is three feet deeper than a typical winter.  He says warmer temperatures then shift the ground that could break sewer pipes:

Eureka College is freezing student room and board costs for the 2014-2015 academic year.  The Board of Trustees vote follows a similar move to freeze tuition at the current year’s rate. The freeze applies to present and incoming students.
