Gifford slowly recovering

It’s been three weeks since an EF-3 tornado ripped through the Champaign County town of Gifford. As IPR'S Sean Powers reports, the community is slowly coming back together.

When Christina Gann, woke up Monday morning, she says it felt weird not going to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gifford. For the last few weeks, she’s served hot meals there to people affected by the storm.

Resource center opens for Gifford recovery

Residents in the Champaign County town of Gifford are getting additional help after last week’s tornado.  Officials opened a resource center that offers a single destination for donated items and access to social service agencies. As parents take advantage of these services, children are also getting extra help.

Students at Gifford Grade School returned to class Monday, a week after a tornado ripped through the Champaign County town. IPR’s Sean Powers was there as school officials tried to recapture some sense of normalcy.

Gifford clean-up continues
