Green technology donning Peoria bus shelters

CityLink is installing green technology to help power bus-shelters.  The shelters include new frames, benches and solar panels to provide night-time lighting and boost visibility for bus drivers.  CityLink approved upgrading up to 50 bus shelters with the new solar panels and other upgrades.  Each new shelter cost 65-hundred-dollars

ICC breaks ground on new sustainability center

Illinois Central College broke ground on a new Sustainability Center at its East Peoria campus. The 26-thousand-square-foot facility will include space for renewable energy, architecture and H-VAC programs. Bruce Budde is ICC’s vice president of finance. He says the center will also allow area contractors to demonstrate ‘green’ building practices to the public:

  The Green Party's candidate for Illinois Governor is going to run as write-in candidate after failing to get on the ballot for the November election. It's been eight years since the party received enough votes to be classified as a major party.  As IPR’s Bill Wheelhouse reports, one political observer say long term success isn't in the cards for third parties:

The state is giving Illinois Central College more than two-and-a-half-million-dollars to build a new Sustainability Center at its East Peoria campus.
