Jurors in Peoria have convicted a 19-year-old man of first-degree murder in the shooting death of another man after an argument over a dice game.  Jurors found Darrell M. Brown of Peoria guilty in the 2015 death of Quenton Lowe. Lowe died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds.  Brown's attorney questioned witness credibility and sizes of the bullets' entry wounds.

Former McLean County Board Chairman Matt Sorensen has pleaded guilty to a federal wire fraud charge, admitting he defrauded a Chicago consulting firm of nearly $500,000.  Sorensen entered the plea during a short hearing in Chicago federal court. 

A central Illinois man has pleaded guilty to the death of his wife, whose body was found in a plastic tote.  Shaun Michael Thomas of Urbana pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the death of 37-year-old Jessica Thomas.  Champaign County sheriff's deputies found Jessica Thomas' body June 1 while doing a welfare check when she didn't show up for work.

A man faces up to 30 years in prison after being convicted of killing his roommate during an argument hours after moving into the man's Naperville townhome in 2014.  Twenty-four-year-old Grant Muren was found guilty of second-degree murder, aggravated arson, and residential arson, following a bench trial in DuPage County.

Former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert’s secrets will remain secret, at least for now.   In court this morning Hastert pleaded guilty to violating federal banking laws.  He admitted he made 106 cash withdrawals of just under ten thousand dollars each to skirt reporting requirements.
