Tornado recovery group helping with soil improvements

Tri-County residents struggling with soil problems following the 2013 tornado are getting financial help. The Tri-County Long Term Recovery group is pledging $150,000 to help residents with soil remediation issues. The funding will help pay to replace soil with lingering dangerous debris with new sod or seed. The Long-Term Recovery Group will discuss the new funding at a meeting this Wednesday.   

District 150 hires legal officer, talks budget

The District 150 School Board voted to hire an in-house legal officer.  Peoria Public Radio’s Alex Rusciano reports the move comes as the Board heard from parents concerned about the legal money spent on a testing investigation at Charter Oak. 

Peoria, Woodford and Tazewell counties will consider giving the Tri-County Regional Planning Commission $250,000.  Peoria Public Radio’s Alex Rusciano reports:

Resource center opens for Gifford recovery

Residents in the Champaign County town of Gifford are getting additional help after last week’s tornado.  Officials opened a resource center that offers a single destination for donated items and access to social service agencies. As parents take advantage of these services, children are also getting extra help.
