Schock: IRS official should be prosecuted

Congressman Aaron Schock says a high ranking IRS official should be prosecuted for misusing her position to target TEA Party based not for profit groups who filed as social welfare organizations. Lois Lerner headed the division in charge of making decisions on tax exempt status.

Schock introduces bill to expand health care exemption

US Congressman Aaron Schock wants to expand a religious exemption to the Affordable Care Act. The House passed Schock’s Equitable Access to Care and Health, or EACH, Act. Schock says the Affordable Care Act currently allows a few select faiths to exempt themselves from paying individual penalties. He says his legislation expands the exemption to more individuals.

Schock calls for top IRS official to resign

U.S. Congressman Aaron Schock is calling on the acting IRS commissioner to resign after the agency gave extra scrutiny to tea party groups applying for tax exempt status.  Schock, a Republican, is on the Ways and Means Committee that oversees tax policy. He says the Ways and Means Committee is launching an investigation into the IRS controversy

Former congressional candidate sues IRS

  A 2012 Democratic candidate for Congress is suing the Internal Revenue Service, saying a tax loophole allowed groups like the American Action Network to spend millions on negative campaign ads.  Former 13th district candidate and Bloomington physician David Gill is filing the suit, along with Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington. The plaintiffs contend the IRS has failed to act against 501-C4 organizations that accept large contributions to influence elections.
