Illinois continues to lead the nation in environmentally sustainable building by making strides in sustainable design and construction.  The 2016 national rankings by the U.S. Green Building Council list the state in third place. This makes it one of just two states to remain in the top ten since the rankings began seven years ago.

Heddington Oaks secures LEED Gold certification

Peoria County’s nursing home, Heddington Oaks, now has LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Leanne Skuse is with River City Construction that built Heddington Oaks.  She says the certification is an international standard that says the building is both environmentally and energy efficient:

The Peoria Riverfront Museum has LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. The certification is an international standard that says the building is both environmentally and energy efficient. Some green features include solar panels, recycled floor materials and electric car chargers. Museum visitors can also take a tour of the building that highlights its sustainable features. The PRM LEED Gold Certification is the first such designation in the area.
