Illinois' 11 Democratic congressmen have signed a letter to Gov. Bruce Rauner demanding that he restore funding to domestic violence shelters.  Rep. Cheri Bustos initiated the letter.  Domestic-violence program funding was omitted from a temporary budget last summer. The Department of Human Services waited nearly six months to alert providers. 

More than 100 Washington families have moved back into their homes since the November 17th tornado. Peoria Public Radio’s Alex Rusciano reports that’s posing a new challenge for the city:

Mayor Ardis, state mayors, urge immigration reform

Nearly two-dozen Illinois mayors, including Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis, are urging the state’s Congressional delegation to support immigration reform.  The mayors are making a business case, rather than pushing for a particular bill.  They say updating the nation’s immigration policy would be an economic boon by creating jobs and increasing revenues.  Champaign Mayor Don Gerard says that’s critical for his community, which is home to the University of Illinois’ flagship campus.
